September 27 -"My Life Is Not As Good As Others."
So often, we battle thoughts of inferiority: “I’m not as blessed as others,” “I’m not as attractive,” “I’m not as successful,” “My life is not as easy or fun." These types of thoughts lead to a major pity party and, eventually, to a spirit of depression. When we don’t feel we measure up to others, we end up living below our own divine potential.
Today we’re fasting from the thought that says: “My life is not as good as others.”
LET'S CHANGE IT TODAY
1. Step out of the comparison trap. Society trains us to compare ourselves to one another, but 2 Corinthians 10:12 says that when we do this, we are without understanding. Understanding is what gives us the power to be happy and free. (Proverbs 3:13-19.) Stop looking at somebody else’s money or figure, or your friend’s marriage or children. Thank God for what He has given you; and ask Him to fill the gaps in your life.
2. Realize God has reserved a special gift for you. There is a portion for you no one can take
(1 Samuel 9:23-24). There is a life and assignment reserved just for you. The Bible says we all have different gifts—not competing gifts. (Romans 12:6.) We are as happy as we choose to be. Choose to be happy with the gifts and life God has given you.
3. Live your life to please God. 2 Corinthians 5:9 says, “We have as our ambition... to be pleasing to God.” When you are busy living by faith, you no longer focus on what other people are experiencing or how you stack up against them. Stop living for the respect and esteem of others. Live by faith. That pleases God. Colossians 3:2 says, “... Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.” You see, we need to be eternally minded.
4. Personalize God’s promises. Whenever you see one of God’s promises in the Bible just put your name in it! Believe that God is writing directly to you. Take for example Luke 12:32 which says, “YOUR Heavenly Father, has chosen gladly to give you the Kingdom!” Personalize it: “MY Heavenly Father has chosen gladly to give ME the Kingdom!”
5. Stop thinking backwards. What I mean is: stop looking at what you DON’T have and start looking at what you DO have. You have eternal life. You are God’s son or daughter. You have the rights of a child of God. You are a part of a revolution—FROM THE INSIDE OUT. When you think this way, you create an attitude of faith for all that God has for you.
THINK IT AND SAY IT
I am secure and confident in Christ. I have a special gift and treasure that God has placed within me. There is a portion and a place in God’s Kingdom reserved for me. All of God’s promises are personally for me. I have a great life, because God is my Father and He has chosen gladly to give me His Kingdom.
